Walk to Cure Diabetes

What's one more charity walk? I can do it! My mom recently became diagnosed with pre-diabetes. She found out that our town is doing the Walk to Cure Diabetes this Saturday and wanted to get involved. I decided to join her. The details of the event are here : Walk to Cure Diabetes

I'm very proud of her for wanting to do this. She is in her 70's and wants to be more active. Even though it's only a mile walk, this is a step in the right direction. I hope to post lots of pictures of our adventure!

It's been a very busy week at work so I haven't had time for posting. I have made time to get to the gym this week and hope to be able to workout in my hotel next week. I'll be traveling with my job for the next few weeks so I'm trying not to get stressed out about that. I hope to stick to my healthy eating and get some exercise every day.

What are your active plans for the weekend? Any races?

Superbowl Sunday

Are you ready for the game? Who are you rooting for? Honestly, neither team is one of my favorites so I'm looking forward to the commercials. :) I'll be making some chili and rotel cheese dip for snacking. I'm not having a huge party, but my family will be here.

Yesterday my husband, daughter and I went to a college basketball game. It was a lot of fun!

Now, I'm getting ready for church then I'll come home to make all the snacks. What kind of snacks do you eat during the superbowl? Healthy or unhealthy? I am trying to stick with healthy since my mom willl be coming over and she has just been diagnosed with Diabtes. But I can't promise everything will be healthy! Enjoy the game!

Double skinny latte please...

This morning I have been trying to learn how to use my espresso machine I got for Christmas. The instructions that came with it have pictures with no words, but after reading further, I found written instructions too. I'm sure I will love it when I get it figured out! Thanks, honey. It's a wonderful gift.

I'm loving having the day off. In fact, I'm off work until Jan 4th! I'm spending time with family today. My mom is coming over later to watch the Music City Bowl with me. Go Vols!

My mom just found out that she has Type 2 Diabetes, so I am planning on making some snacks that she can have without raising her blood sugar. I'm off to research diabetic recipes! If you have recommendations, please comment!
